The language of cosmoses

One thing that defines different levels of being (Man #1-7...) is languages. When you enter the Man #4 level you are studying the language of Man #5. And Man #5 learns the language of Man #6.

The language of Man #5 is the language of the Work itself. The language of Man #6 is the mysterious (mysterious in that it's only alluded to in the main Work sources, and not mentioned at all by Nicoll) language of cosmoses.

The language of cosmoses is an objective language. It enables one to have (or one who can use it has the ability to have) objective understanding.

Man #5 has Higher Emotional Center. Man #6 has Higher Intellectual Center. Man #5 has self-consciousness. Man #6 has objective-consciousness. The language of self-consciousness is the language of the Work. The language of objective-consciousness is the language of cosmoses.

The Work doesn't give or describe the language of cosmoses. It has to be seen and learned on one's own, in the course of all the development that is defined by the Man #4 stage and then beyond.

In exoteric theology classical covenent theology is a language of cosmoses (is in that category). This is what I was going after in my theological studies. The more wild covenant theologian Meredith Kline often describes, without being aware of it, cosmoses, when he describes aspects of covenant theology and things in the Bible.

In a way the cosmological teaching of the Work itself is the beginning of the language of cosmoses, yet it's not 'it' proper. The language of cosmoses proper is a practical level - active - 'seeing' and 'understanding'. It is not philosophy or theory. For instance, being able to 'see' third force in phenomena is an aspect of objective consciousness, and is in the realm of the language of cosmoses.

All of this I have been writing on, in different ways. This is what I've been pursuing in various directions. It came into focus when I read again from Ouspensky that the Work itself is the language of Man #5 and that it is the language you learn once you enter the Man #4 level (you always learn the language that is one level above you). It was in the general discussion of understanding and how it's only at the first level of the inner circle (Man #5) that people can begin to understand one another, and this has to do with language. Outside the first level of the inner circle is the circle of confusion of tongues. This is where Man #1, 2, and 3 reside. Man #4 of course is in a transition stage. To just 'think' - I want to emphasize here, as an aside - you are in the Man #4 level is dangerous. It is a stage where you have developed a permanent center-of-gravity that is magnetic center and interest in real development and Work knowledge. Abiding, day by day. It also means you have taken the decisive step to make real efforts. It also means you have a basic and growing degree of high valuation for the Work and for making Work efforts. (I say all this because it is getting out in front for most people, obviously, to be talking about the language of Man #6 when it is the Work language itself and Work effort that is necessary to get anywhere near the language of Man #6.)

Man #7 is a crown level, or consolidation of development where development is made permanent. So this means that once you know that above the level of the 'language of the Work' lies the 'language of cosmoses' you have, at least in terms of knowing about it, a complete picture of what is involved, all the way up to Man #7. What I mean is: in terms of learning new languages you now know that the new language above the Work language itself is the language of cosmoses.

Higher Emotional Center (and then of course Higher Intellectual Center later) allows you to begin to 'see' the language of cosmoses in phenomena and in things. Influences as well. Seeing in terms of cosmoses makes influences deliver their power complete and wholly. I used the example of works of classical music and how the influence is delivered so differently when you see them as 'cosmoses' and hear them like that as opposed to when you are just listening to them coming out of a radio or whatever. More attention is needed to see in terms of cosmoses and parameters, or boundaries, have to be seen and set, and then the whole has to be taken in, and then parts have to be seen in relation to the whole, which is what objective understanding is.

Covenant Theology is a 'cosmos' type 'whole' understanding of the Word of God. I saw it from the beginning when I encountered it. Mainstream theologians don't see all of it (thought they do recognize the quality in Covenant Theology that enables one to see Scripture and the plan of redemption in a complete and whole way). It is, also, regarded as very suspicious by fundamentalist types and it's not seen or recognized at all by theologically lazy or shallow types. It's the three covenant structure of: creation above; fall; redemption and return; and the element in it all that involves Real Will, or, connecting with what is above and being 'drawn' up while at the same time climbing by one's effort (top-down, real will volition effort). All that new 'inner orientation' from self-will (man cannot do) to Real Will (or God's will) and how that manifests, &c.

Just follow the Way as one can only make real progress on it. You have to be in the #4 Man stage a long time. And being truly in that stage is unusual and involves real high valuation for the Work and real effort doing the Work. Real effort, and honesty regarding what you know and what you don't know, and what you 'have' and what you don't have.

Note: obviously I havn't elucidated the 'language of cosmoses' in a systematic way, but that can't be done anyway (though having said that I am putting it together as I go along). You learn it as you progress from Man #1,2,3 to Man #4 and then to Man #5. The cosmological teaching of the Work is the beginning of it, but the language of cosmoses itself involves new functions associated with the third and fourth levels of consciousness (self-consciosness and objective-consciousness). And it involves, obviously, the use of Higher Centers. So make efforts to be in the third state of consciousness, and the road goes on from there. First things first. Though it is practically helpful to know what lies beyond and what the finish line is. The realm - inner circle - that is defined by Man #5, 6, and 7 involves new language. The first new language you connect with and learn is the language of the Work itself (the language of Man #5 level). Then the next one is the language of cosmoses (the language of Man #6 level). Those two new languages correspond to the third and fourth levels of consciousness (self-consciousness and objective-consciosness) and the two Higher Centers. The level of Man #7 involves the consolidation of those new languages and functions where it all becomes permanent.
