Big subject, Jesus Prayer

The recent theme of how some Christians know more, like the Work, may have to do with most Christians being in the General Law due to having children and careers and all that, while other Christians are in the Law of Exception and hence are able to connect with the practical teaching. This may also be able to explain the difference between infant baptists and credo baptists and other similar divides in a real way...

But what I wanted mostly to say here is as I was reading the Little Book of Transforming Negative Emotions by Peter Ingle it occurred to me that I know what the Jesus Prayer is and is for:

Without the context of self-remembering and transforming negative emotion the prayer just seems like mechanical repetition. But in a Work practice context it is how you stay 'on top of the wave' and ride the wave and not crash. I.e. when you would indulge accumulated energy negatively you recite the prayer, which reminds you you need help to overcome and that you are a sinner. Resentment is usually, ultimately, directed a a human or group of humans, so recognizing you're a sinner in that moment transcends the paltry causes resentment.

Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy upon me a sinner.

The line in the Lord's Prayer is also relevant: forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

But THAT is why you recite that prayer continuously. Because you are accumulating higher energy, and you need to stay on your horse and not get knocked to the ground when inevitably you are attacked by black armoured knights who are protecting the Grail Castle. I.e. when a surprising event occurs where you explode in negativity. No. You recite that prayer as a way to stay 'on' the wave, on the horse (horses are metaphor for emotion in myth and legend).

Then the black armoured knights disappear and you are closer or actually at the Grail Castle.
