Major insight reading the Fourth Way

I've begun reading the Fourth Way again. I can't help but see things from this vantage point of time and development. On page 8, at the very bottom, continued to the end of the section (the single asterisk) there are two things that struck me as major insights.

1. Because we don't have control of our will (four centres with different wills) we draw back from confronting that fact because we fear not being able to do anything. (There is a similar experience regarding this, and it's this: when we are sitting around indulging fantasy and imagination and various running scenarios in our mind we don't want to stop because we fear we will forget them. As if they're valuable to begin with which they aren't. But it's a sort of placemarker for real I, for real presence, that cacophony of imagination and running thoughts.)

Second insight:

2. The fact that human beings are very complicated machines, and because we don't know the instruction manual we just have to go along in imagination that we are operating the machine ourselves. What this means is the average person is really just in a flow of fate. Because they aren't in control or awake, so *something* is making them do what all people do. Go to school, get a job, meet a mate, get married start a family, start a business, etc. It is all fate. They aren't really even doing it. SO HERE IS THE MAJOR INSIGHT: When you make efforts to learn the operating manual, and you develop some real understanding, consciousness, and will, you no longer have that unconscious flow of fate to guide/pull/force you along, and you can end up stagnating in life, or drifting, because acting from internal motivation IS NOT NATURAL OR EASY for human beings.

What this further means is this is how we can see the mechanicalness of life. People all around us are going through the motions. There are perturbations from bigger sources, cosmic, for instance, that can jab at the single life activity of a human being, maybe draw many of them in a certain direction (wars, uprisings, etc.), but it's all still mechanical nevertheless.

What I mean is we can 'see' in this the different laws human beings are inside of. Law of Accident vs. law of will, for instance. It explains a lot about issues of free will, and first and secondary causes, and God's sovereignty vs. man's responsibility, etc.

If you are someone who has transcended that level of mechanicalness, and you are now responsible for your motivation and direction and choices and inspiration and so on; and you are vulnerable to being stagnant in life, or drifting from one thing to another with no straight line of an octave, so to speak, then we have to think about that.

ONE MORE INSIGHT TO CONNECT WITH THIS: In a commentary on the Book of Revelation (More Than Conquerors by Hendriksen) I highlighted a passage where he states that the first major part (of two) of the book is about the Church persecuted by the world; whereas the second major part is about the underlying battle between Christ and the dragon, or Satan. It's that SECOND part that caught my attention. That is where Jesus needs US. He needs soldiers who are no longer merely in the flow of mechanical fate. Individuals who He can now USE. I even make a note saying: read the Bible complete from this angle of understanding to see what passages reflect on this unique theme.

Anyway... The Fourth Way... When I started it from page one just now I asked myself, seeing, discerning how advanced and sophisticated it is compared to similar type books, why am I reading anything else? - C.

And to add to all that, I really think that to be used by God in the way I mentioned we really just have to be in the third state and fourth state of consciousness. I really don't even think it's a matter of where we are in time and place, i.e. I don't think we need to go on crusade, so to speak...yet it's an interesting thought to be a #5 Man or higher and leave your daily routine and embark out into the world in total faith you will be sustained by your King. Scary thought for me, but maybe you guys!

Still, I think it's like this: the battle is being fought in the spiritual realm, and what seems mundane or insignificant here and now could be a part of a real battle in the spiritual realm. So, an instance of real second conscious shock here and now will have significance in the spiritual realm we cant readily know... - C.
