Vision of death (beyond the veil)

I think - yes, I say think - I had a vision of what death is like. Or, put funnily, what life is like beyond the veil.

First, I believe when truly regenerated by the word and the Spirit we go to be with God in Heaven. My vision has to do with where the currently unregenerate and (only God knows) reprobate are.

Also, I believe the unregenerate recur in their living time. They are dead in sin, and hence dead in their time, yet in that time, which recurs until the second coming and harvest, nevertheless. That is not reincarnation or 'living again.' In the mystery of higher aspects of time. I believe the Bible gives place for this in the mystery of the so-called intermediate state. We still die once. So I obviously believe that part of this living time takes place in Hades. We can only think in terms of a circle turning or revolution, death/birth, etc., but in higher aspects of time we are in the spirit in Hades just as we are here now under the sun. When a regenerate person physically dies they actually disappear from their time, here under the sun as well as in Hades.

The main aspect of my vision which I'll get straight to has to do with consciousness and lack of it. The vision was seen in a dream whilst I was asleep. It was a dream that recurs in different ways, yet the geography and feel of the dreams are the same. It only occurred to me after this last one that it was a vision of the dead.

I see the dead occupying earth-like land yet strangely lacking the natural light of the sun while still having a sort of light. The land and landmarks are unique to the dead person's world when alive, yet different in the way dreams make familiar things different. In the dream I am uniquely awake compared to the others, like I don't belong there. I can see they aren't conscious to really any degree other than not being in actual physical type sleep. I, too, though feel and experience the strangeness going on. There is also usually a real sense of captivity, like being a prisoner not allowed to leave the general area. In some of the dreams I've tried to escape and couldn't.

It is fitting that there is a general lack of consciousness in this realm. Synonymous with a lack of developed being. It might even be tragic to be conscious in this realm, like it would mean development without the Holy Spirit and hence evil development.

I see family members in these dreams (in this realm), and not just dearly departed family members but currently alive ones too. The interactions are probably too dream-like bizarre to try to describe. They often contain personality and conflict from the time of living, yet in very Kafkaesque ways.

I just believe that generally what I am seeing in these dreams/visions is where the dead are and the state they are in. They are in spirit, yet are seen as bodies, vaguely clothed even. They are not in control of themselves or their environment. The environment is like a park, or a school grounds, but some scenes take place indoors of known locations from the lived life. People seem to have around them aspects of their lived life, and perhaps it is family connections that form any core of organisation.

Obviously such a vision should inspire effort or just the desire to have more control of our being. To have greater real consciousness, greater real will, greater real understanding. Greater real weight and presence. A developed core or essence. I obviously am writing from a Work, or Fourth Way (Ouspensky) perspective. It is Christianity and regeneration that gives one life and escape from the vision though. Yet afer you are regenerated you still have a lived life to complete, and you will be in Hades during that time still too (see above), hence viewing the scene of the dead from a more awake state, potentially.

Everything you do under the sun has an analogue in the spiritual world of Hades until you actually ressurect up to be with God in Heaven. Then perhaps your presence will still be felt among the dead under the sun and in Hades, perhaps too your influence, but you will no longer be there.

Follow up post:

I felt a little like Annie Besant writing that. Not my usual. But for some reason those types of dreams sort of came to my memory and it felt like it may be a look into that intermediate state.

For one we have to realize if we are not very conscious here and now we probably aren't very conscious when beyond the veil. And what I was seeing was a level of consciousness in people in the dreams that was between our usual waking state here and now and what we know as head-on-pillow sleep.

Probably a close analogy for us living beings is being on a type of drug that really stranges things up. Like mushrooms or something. I.e. when you are under the influence of a drug you are neither head-on-pillow asleep, but you also aren't at the level of waking sleep. Somewhere in between. That is where I saw the people in the dreams at.

A passing thought I've had is we should be able to get some glimpse of death. The beyond. It really shouldn't be 100% unknown. I mean, with awakening in this life a vision of beyond the veil should be possible to some degree. And using common sense based on what we know about ourselves here we should be able to put some equations together such as, we are not conscious here, thus beyond the veil it should be no different. Why should humans suddenly have more consciousness beyond the veil than we have here? Being out of the flesh and in a spirit body? I don't know that that would necessarily give more consciousness. Being in flesh might even be more of an advantage to consciousness in that it gives us an anchor to figure things out around us. Space, motion, subject, object, etc.

For a regenerated believer all of this is not applicative because when a regenerated believer dies we go not to Hades but to where God is, and where God is is Heaven. And most likely we are conscious in a way the unregenerate in Hades aren't because we have the Holy Spirit in us. We also have the full armor of God. That clothing. It enables us to stand. To 'stand' to me is a metaphor of, among other things, presence and clarity.

So Christianity doesn't write about what it is like for the unregenerate when they die. The Bible says some things about Heaven, though, but just a little. Maybe more if we read other parts of the Bible in deeper context.

It all is under the Work teaching of doing what you have to do now because you can only awaken now. You can also only be regenerated now. The wildcard being the living, quickening language of the Bible. Move toward God, and He will move toward you, as the Bible says. We can't do it, but we can take in the living language and we can pray. That is moving towards God.

So just as the Work says knowing about recurrence is interesting and can be helpful to understanding it ultimately means little to nothing if we don't do NOW what needs to be done. Christianity is similar. It's nice to know about Hades and all that, but the Christian's destination is not Hades but Heaven.
