Big understanding consolidation

Just recently read chp. 10 of Ouspensky's New Model of the Universe. The chapter itself is titled New Model of the Universe.

What he does is review the old physics (think Newton), and then the new physics (think Einstein), and then in Part 2 of the essay he describes the new model, showing how the old and new physics fall short.

I could really follow the whole thing after all the philosophy and philosophy vis-a-vis science I've read lately. Plus knowing the Work obviously helps.

It started with me wondering how gravity could work between the earth and sun. It turns out Newton never said there is *attraction* between earth and sun. That became the popular notion, and then science just assumed it. I didn't buy it. Looked up some things using google. Searched on debunking gravity and found that I was onto something. So I wondered if Ouspensky wrote about gravity. Turns out yes, a lot. And what he wrote exactly matched what I was thinking.

The main thing here is my use of the vision of earth hanging isolated in dark space, and how that generates in me a feeling of the supernatural of all this creation and existence.

What Ouspensky adds to that feeling and realization is a description of just how everything is actually connected, and what we see is limited by our perception. The earth and sun have a connection because they are of a piece. O's analogy is this: the earth could no more fall out of orbit of the sun than a section of an apple could just fall out of the apple. I.e. the earth is part of the sun.

The essay also is much clearer than Tertium Organum on how to see the 3 dimensions of time.

The essay overall reinforces how the two conscious shocks are actual movement in higher dimensions of time.

I also come to a constant hard fact that accident and a sense of desertion by God come to us simply because we are asleep in life. We simply have to be in the third state and higher to have contact. One way or another. Whether due to circumstances (war, sickness, danger, whatever) or consciously. - C.
