Christian practices
In this list below I think I rounded up too many major things under 'fasting.'
For instance: a major Christian practice is forgiveness, or, more directly put: forgiving others. Love thy enemy. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
One thing about forgiveness that can be overlooked is the need to forgive continually for the same thing. Because past events take on a life of their own in memory and imagination and just hang around forever; so you have to forgive negative things committed against you (real or perceived or mixtures of both) over and over. Or be prepared to. Or else they'll spring up and get you to indulge resentment, or always be a threat for doing that unopposed. So whenever some old thing like that comes up then remember that you have to forgive not just once, but do it again, and again and again. Seven times seventy times if need be (which means as many times as necessary). Forgive us our debts (we ask God our Father) as we forgive our debtors. It's in our self-interest to forgive others...
And see in yourself what you dislike in others. Don't beat yourself up, but this is a way to cancel things and stay out of lying and imagination and self-justifying regarding past events.
