The theologian of sanctification
I just read in the New Dictionary of Theology that John Calvin has been called "the theologian of sanctification." Considering it is in the area of sanctification that Work knowledge and practice resides it's not surprising to learn when Calvin's Insititutes of the Christian Religion and his ability to describe and teach hardcore biblical doctrine gives off so many insights and correspondences to Work teaching...
Note: the article pointed out that though Calvin didn't have a separate chapter on sanctification as a doctrinal topic (it was in the following century that it would become it's own topic) it is throughout his Institutes as a whole that he really talks about sanctification; but the article also referenced these two sections of the Institutes as well: book 3, chp. 3, section 14; and book 3, chp. 14, section 9.
(There's a rule that should be followed: never post other people's references without reading them first yourself. Those two passages referenced above, though being good to read, don't really apply to the subject of my post directly. I just read them...)
