Central to the faith
Here is a quote that gets at something that is as central to the Christian faith as self-remembering is to the Work:
A Christian, then, is a copy of Christ. His inner and outer man are to be copies of Christ. It is Christ’s footsteps he is to walk in. It is Christ’s image that he is to reflect. It is not Paul, nor Peter, no Luther, nor Calvin, nor Rutherford that he is to copy, but Christ Himself. Other models may illustrate this, and so help in the imitation of Christ; but only as doing this are they useful; otherwise they are dangerous. - Horatius Bonar (Speaking to how the Bible describes those who rightly bear the name Christian.)
This is central and practical. Just like when you read the Work sources and see what it's all about and you begin to see what is central such as self-remembering, it's the same with the Bible and getting understanding of what faith and practice are all about; and this imitating of Jesus is central. It's easy to overlook, and to forget once you see it.
If you think about it, to imitate Jesus it helps to know about the third and fourth states of consciousness and the practice of self-remembering and non-identifying; because that is the state Jesus was - is - in. To the Man #7 (actually I think the Man #8 unique-to-him) level.
