The continual need to awaken to reality...
The Bible, biblical doctrine, godliness as real time practice, the history of the Kingdoms, all the darkness of human nature and sin and everything that can make up a big burden regarding religion and so on, it all needs to be seen in the context of your inevitable death.
Only an atheist pretends to not care about his inevitable death and then makes his religion endless wind-surfing or whatever. (Usually endless debating and attacking of Christianity.)
When you think within the context of your inevitable death then the burden of all that - the Bible and doctrine and practice and all that - (the uncoolness of it compared to the world and the activities of the world) is seen as still there yet you deal with it because death is serious. Just as when you get an illness you suddenly see the seriousness of your precarious situation. (One Caveat: death can still not be serious to a person because I think recurrence is vaguely discerned by humanity and a season in the interval of Hades followed by another round in the Kingdom of Satan is not seen as all that bad a thing for many if not most people. But if you see the terror of the situation - you've been made to see it by God - or you just simply have saving faith, then you want the connection to the Kingdom of God made via the Holy Spirit and secured by the work of the Son on the cross.)
