Blood sacrifice 3

One of the deadly, corrupt (and effective) things the Roman Catholic church has done is to make real Christians think the term 'priest' is somehow ungodly. The fact is we need a priest. But no man can be our priest. Only Jesus Christ can be an effective priest between God and man. A priest is a mediator between God and man. Jesus Christ is the Christian's High Priest.

This gets back to blood sacrifice because it is a priest that sacrifices for his people. Jesus is the ultimate priest who made the ultimate sacrifice: himself. A once for all time sacrifice.

He is our priest. Not after the order of Aaron or the Levitical priesthood but after the order of Melchizedec. An eternal order. No man is or can be our priest. Only Jesus Christ. (This is a realization you can get from reading it in a work of theology, but it has to be seen at a deeper level. You have a priest and need a priest. Jesus. He is also your prophet (teacher, by his word). He is also your king. He gives you protection and a kingdom, etc. So you have to walk around in your everyday life and realize: "I have a great high priest that represents me, mediates for me, prays for me, before God in heaven, and he is Jesus Christ.")

UPDATE: The Work says we are ignorant and we are weak. Also, overall, it says we have no connection with what is above us. We need a prophet (teacher), and we need a king (to serve and follow and be ruled by so that we can have strength to rule our own inner domain, i.e. you have to recognize the King above you before you can be a king of your inner domain, you need that chain-of-command). Then for connection we need a priest. A priest to enable us to have contact with God. To mediate between us and God. Jesus is all three in one.
