Puritan meditation

Here is a more than run-of-the-mill defined article on Puritan meditation. For instance it lists seven subjects for the "object" of meditation. (This generally is comparable to what a Work person thinks of to get that "higher perspective feeling" accompanying the "I am here" presence-state, i.e. thinking of one's own death or thinking of the existence of galaxies or something similar.)

Of course the Puritan method described in the article misses the accumulating of energy of consciousness element (being filled with the Holy Spirit in terms of 'measure' and 'provoking limits' - limits defined by the 'Old Adam' in you, false personality, etc. - and 'extending limits' and so on).

I have to say I read the article, and I get the impression I am slumming because Work practice is the high form of all of this, though, then, at the same time I do concede that Work practice needs to be seen in its Christian context (at least more so than it's presented starkly in the main sources) after you've connected with it and know it and can do it. And you can only learn it by language that is unmixed and so on, but then there comes a time when... (really? the Holy Spirit is saying, there is the langauge, I've given it to you, now just do it)... Anyway, so seeing these correlations with the more 'eXoteric' level the article is describing is not without some profit.
