Music Videos

(Notes: this YouTube is an incredible source to go back through time with this great music. If you have a slow connection each video loads and plays at the same time, so if it's stopping continually just slide the thing back behind the progress of the download - hope that makes sense - then it plays continuously. You can focus on individual bands and really get a time capsule sense of things. I did it with the Rolling Stones - just search on them and bring up all their videos - and Jimi Hendrix - some incredible live performces from him available - and some others. And interesting thing to do too is to read Wikipedia articles on the bands and individual members while playing the videos. You can kind of also get into the lives of these 'gods' in that heyday of rock and roll, I mean from their perspective, and really see what they were living. Alot of the videos are more than just music.)
Led Zeppelin acoustic Going to California (good performance)
Rod Stewart and Faces doing Stay With Me (R.S., consumate showman, worth seeing)
More Rod Steward and Faces (great drum solo)
Donovan singing Catch the Wind
Canned Heat doing their thing;
Cat Stevens before Islam made him stop singing
Rolling Stones Little Queanie
Jimi Hendrix Red House
Robert Plant
Mick Jagger
Look at this clip of Mick Jagger reading a Shelley poem in memory of bandmate Brian Jones who had just died.
Think of an artist or band and do a search using YouTube's search box. With Wikipedia too you can actually get into these lives and these times in a strange way. I mean, you can just kind of 'see' what they were experiencing and everything...
